Local Landcare Network Resources

Local Landcare umbrella groups provide resources that are relevant to our smaller Landcare area, though it is advisable to check that the information provided is relevant to our area and work sites. Some coastal species, specialist species restricted to particular geologies, landforms or altitudes may not occur naturally here. Our valley environment has its own microclimates.

BRUNSWICK VALLEY LANDCARE INC

Brunswick Valley Landcare are the umbrella Landcare groups for the Byron Shire. They have a lot of useful information and on their website: funding opportunities, contractor information and some great downloadable booklets and guides on a huge amount of topics such as; flora and fauna, local weeds, bush regeneration, riparian restoration, landslip information and much more.

THE BIG SCRUB RAINFOREST CONSERVANCY

We are located on the edge of the historical Big Scrub in the headwaters of waterways that once flowed through the largest area of lowland subtropical rainforest in Australia (75,000 ha). Today, only 1% remains. The Big Scrub Rainforest Conservancy provides resources and links

Wildlife Organisations

There are two fantastic volunteer organisations which work locally to rescue and look after any sick or injured native wildlife.

Grants

Local, State and Federal bodies all provide funding opportunities at various times to help landowners with regeneration projects. We will often share links to grants that we come across on our Facebook page.
